At BioMush, our competitive edge lies in our proprietary solid-state fermentation technology, which transforms bland, low-value food industry side streams into rich, umami flavour solutions. Our end-products are all-natural, clean-label solutions tailored for B2B applications in the food industry.
The first bioreactor of its kind
The BioMush process is designed specifically for our clients, allowing us to tailor our solutions to their available side streams and desired flavour profiles for end products. Our approach requires modest capital investment from clients and operates at competitive production costs compared to traditional flavouring methods, such as yeast extract.
How it works
Fermentation is a natural process in which microbes convert organic materials into sugars, amino acids, alcohols, organic acids, and various aroma compounds. Our approach utilizes solid-state fermentation (SSF) with fungi as its base, allowing us to harness a diverse range of solid substrates.
Tackling industry challenges
Food manufacturers lose up to two months’ worth of production annually due to waste. Globally, there is a rising demand for improved flavour profiles without the use of MSG or yeast extract, which are often viewed as unnatural. Our unique technology addresses both challenges by transforming low-value side streams into clean-label umami flavour products. Our primary clients are food industry players who have both usable by-products and the need for flavour products.
